Title:
Post Master Gallery Fitout
Location: The Post Master Gallery
Exhibition Design: Rosemary Simons
Client: Australia Post
Design
Brief: To design a suite of refined showcases and
wall panels to suit a variety of exhibition purposes but which
can also be stored within a very small space.
Design Notes: Designing elegant and discreet furniture
in itself is not too daunting but requiring these same showcases
to readily compact for storage, makes for a formidable brief.
Storage was
addressed in three ways: building of a double stud wall with
a storage cavity within, the ability of the glass showcase tops
to connect together by use of removable brass fittings, and designing
wall panels and bases that can be unlocked from their footings
and collapse flat.
Versatility
is enhanced by the Tasmanian Myrtle and perspex showcase bases,
which can be used singly or in pairs, mixing with interchangeable
glass tops of various sizes.
Optional rods,
integrated into the assembly system, facilitate the hanging of
shelves and framed works within the showcases.
Wall panels too, vary in size and are panelled either in timber or perspex.
